Today, IE members Salvador Sánchez-Alonso and Miguel-Angel Sicilia took the recently launched high speed rail to Barcelona to attend a meeting together with most of our partners in the SUMA project. The agenda was mainly about preparation of the second year proposal that will be submitted to the Ministry of Industry.

We had a very nice atmosphere in the “noble” so to speak building of the UOC in the Tibidabo mountain, and very productive indeed. The picture shows just a few members of the full consortium, and includes us with Julià, Esther and Evaristo from the UOC.

Yesterday I (Miguel-Angel) arrived to Rome from Sestri Levante (where we had the last LUISA meeting). Today I was giving a talk on searching learning resources and ontologies at the FAO offices in Rome, together with our colleague Nikos Manousellis, from GRNET.
It was really a pleasure to meet FAO people, and I hope to have more chances in the future to meet them and eventually to collaborate in some project. I think they are on the right way to have significant applications based on ontologies, and this is also our business!
Now I am with Nikos preparing to go out for dinner and hopefully to have one (or several) beers.

We had a LUISA project meeting at the small town of Sestri Levante, near Genoa. Sestri is an interesting place for planning some vacations, but the schedule of the meeting was so demanding that we were not be able to enjoy the place.
Elena Mena and Raquel Rebollo from our group were with me (Miguel-Angel) and we were basically doing integration testing of the different components of the LUISA architecture. However, we had time the first night to enjoy tasting some Gnocchi at a nice restaurant in front of the beach.

The rooms at Hotel Due Mari were small but charming. In this picture Elena Mena is in the balcony of her room form which she and Raquel could easlily communicate with Miguel-Angel’s room. A curious arrangement! |
Below left you have Raquel at the meeting room, and below right Ramiro (up) and Alberto are decorating the Lab with the latest dissemination-oriented LUISA poster, which was distributed at the Sestri meeting.
