SUMA was a 12 partner, national scope, research project with the main objective of creating a service layer enabling the separation of e-learning base platforms from the applications and functions that might be used and incorporated. Thus, any of the available consolidated e-Learning platforms could be the base for the system, so for the project two different alternatives were suggested: Moodle and Sakai.
Managed by the Open University of Catalonia, IE contribution was the implementation of an OKI interface for the Ont-Space repository for testing purposes on semantic learning object repositories.
This video summarizes fairly well the objectives and achievements of the project:
Last monday IE members Miguel Angel Sicilia and Salvador Sanchez attended to the Ph.D dissertation of Javier Sanz. Javier’s work on learning object metrics, supervised by Salvador and Juan Manuel Dodero from University of Cadiz, has been positively acclaimed by the community: this was just the last hurdle to overcome.
Professors from University of Alcala, other universities in Spain (Cadiz, Carlos III of Madrid) and Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (Guayaquil, Ecuador) formed the board of assessors for the dissertation.
After the successful event, supervisors, assessors and the new Ph.D had lunch together in the restaurant inside El Parador of Alcala.
First day of our Organic.Mednet meeting in Staverden, Holland. People representing all the partners in the project, as well as Remi, representing Prodague, the new silent partner that just joined the consortium, are these days here to meet, share and plan activities for the next 6 months.
As part of the parallel activities, we visited De Groote Voort, an organic farm near Barneveld wich is just half an hour driving over the National park Veluwe. We tried their famous cheese, certified organic, which has been selected as the best farm cheese available.
